Dental Implants are critically important to maintain the foundation of your teeth. Your teeth do more than look pretty in your face and let you chew. The roots of your teeth also keep your jaw bone healthy and stimulated. Without that stimulation, the bone begins to diminish. Because dental implants are surgically implanted into your jaw bone, they keep that bone stimulated. And because the replacement tooth or teeth have “roots”, you can eat what you like, speak with confidence, and may even be able to forget about using denture adhesive altogether.

Some people use the words “root canal” interchangeably with pain and misery. We would like to set that misconception straight. Root canal treatments actually stop the pain and save your tooth, not the other way around. So what exactly is a root canal? A root canal gets its name from the part of the tooth being treated. When a tooth becomes infected and filled with dangerous bacteria, it is the inside of the tooth – where the nerves and root canals are located – that is most affected. During a root canal, we enter the tooth, clear the infected and inflamed tissue out of those root canals, fill them with a protective sealant, and top it all off with a strong and beautiful crown. Your pain ends, your tooth is saved, and your smile looks beautiful!

Like discovering you have a cavity, being told you need oral surgery is never welcome news. But when you rely on the compassionate team and skillful hands of Drs. Rena and George Brown at Smiles by Design, you can at least know that you are going to be very well taken care of. To prove it, our dentists will not perform any surgery they don’t feel absolutely qualified to complete, such as boney impactions or wisdom tooth extractions. When that is the case, we will refer you to one of our trusted oral and maxillofacial surgeons for co-treatment. We will, of course, follow your progress every step of the way and bring your smile back home to us once your surgery is complete.
